A song for Mike from Emily and Josh

[Verse 1]
Mike, you drew the field lines in the rain
Though you’d never played, you learned the game
Every team we had, you stood beside
With a folding chair and that patient pride

[Verse 2]
Five o’clock, the kitchen light came on
Pancake batter, first light not yet drawn
You shaped our initials in the pan
And handed us the morning like you planned

[Chorus]
Mike, you were there for every first and fall
Mike, you made us feel ten feet tall
From the sideline cheers to Saturday’s shine
Dad, you gave your time, and you gave us yours
Mike, we’re still your team for life

[Verse 3]
Saturday, the car was in the drive
Your favorite old records came alive
You washed away the week, one panel at a time
We’d sing along and steal your sudsy shine

[Bridge]
You never needed trophies on the shelf
You showed us how by being yourself
And all these years, the clearest thing we know
Is you made home wherever we would go

[Final Chorus]
Mike, you were there for every first and fall
Mike, you made us feel ten feet tall
From the sideline cheers to Saturday’s shine
Dad, you gave your time, and you gave us yours
Mike, we’re still your team for life

[Outro]
Happy Father’s Day, Dad
Love, Emily and Josh
