Why practise with drums instead of a click?

A click marks the beat; a drum pattern also tells you where in the bar you are — the kick says downbeat, the snare says backbeat. That makes it easier to feel the groove, keep your place across long phrases, and practise playing a little ahead of or behind the beat on purpose. When you want the bare pulse again, switch the sound back to Click.

What pattern does the drum metronome play?

In simple meters: kick on beat one (and beat three in 4/4 and above), snare on the other beats, hi-hat on every beat. In compound meters like 6/8 and 12/8 the kick lands on each accented beat and the snare on the last beat of each group of three. The sounds are synthesised in your browser — no samples to download.

Does it keep time accurately?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every hit is scheduled on the audio clock a fraction of a second ahead, the same way the click is, so a busy browser tab does not make it drift. The dots follow what was actually scheduled.
