TL;DR
A song is an idea, a feeling, a voice, a few instruments and a chorus people remember. You can learn to write and record all of that, or you can describe it in a sentence. On the AI song maker, the Prompt box opens with a full example (a pop punk song about a summer at the skatepark), and six "Start from a vibe" tiles let you hear a finished song and load its prompt with one tap. Press Generate and the AI writes the lyrics, sings them and returns two complete versions in about a minute. One run costs 10 credits, and new accounts get 16 free. This guide shows how to make a song that way, and how to describe yours so it comes back sounding like you meant it.

What makes a song feel like a song
Songwriters argue about craft forever, but most finished songs share five parts. Each one is a phrase you can put in the prompt:
- A subject. Songs are about something specific: a summer with best friends at the skatepark, waiting all week for a Sunday date, slowing down and living on island time. The more concrete the subject, the better the lyrics the AI writes.
- A feeling. feel-good, joyful, sensual, dramatic, laid-back. One clear mood gives the chords and melody a direction.
- A genre and era. 2000s pop punk, 60s Motown soul, roots reggae. A genre brings its own instruments, tempo and song shape with it.
- A voice. energetic male vocal, powerful female lead vocal, smooth male vocal, female harmonies, a full choir answering. Without it, the model picks.
- A hook. The part people sing back. Ask for it: a shout-along chorus, a big call-and-response bridge, a big key change in the final chorus.
Structure (verse, chorus, bridge) comes with the genre. If you want control over it, write the lyrics yourself on the Own Lyrics tab, covered below.
Step by step with the AI song maker
- Open the AI song maker. The Prompt tab is selected and the box holds A feel-good pop punk song about a summer with best friends at the skatepark, energetic male vocal, fast guitars and a shout-along chorus. Instrumental Only is off, since the point here is a sung song.

- Look over the form. The Prompt box takes up to 500 characters. Under it: a library button, + Lyrics, Image, Video and Audio for reference media, and the Instrumental Only toggle. Then the Inspiration genre chips with More, the Number of Songs to Generate stepper (2 means one run), the Public switch, the vibe tiles and the Generate Music for Free button. The note under it: sign up free and get 16 credits, no card required.
- Tap a vibe. A tile plays its example and copies its prompt into the box. Tapping Pop punk summer loads the fuller A feel-good 2000s pop punk song about a summer with best friends at the skatepark, energetic male vocal, fast palm-muted guitars and a shout-along chorus about never growing up and plays Skateboard Summer, a 1:40 song.

- Listen to the six. The examples section, "Songs Made with the AI Song Maker", lists them all, from the 1:40 pop punk anthem to the 2:59 reggae song. Each was made on v6. For these examples we wrote the lyrics ourselves and gave v6 a style line in the same direction as the tile; the tile's prompt is the one-sentence version of that song, and when you press Generate the AI writes its own lyrics from it.

- Open one to see a finished song. The Skateboard Summer page shows the cover, play and Share buttons, the tags and the lyrics, laid out as Verse 1, Pre-Chorus and Chorus. The chorus opens "This is our skateboard summer / Every day feels like a number one", which is what a hook looks like on paper: short, repeatable, singable.

- Write your own line, or keep the preset, and press Generate. You will be asked to sign up if you are logged out. 10 credits, about a minute, two songs with different melodies and lyrics. They go to your library, My Music.
How to describe the song you want
The six page prompts all follow one sentence shape, and it is the easiest way to learn how to make a song with AI:
A [mood] [genre] song about [specific subject], [voice], [two or three instruments] and [a hook or structural wish].
Fill it in for your idea: A tender country ballad about my parents' fortieth anniversary, warm male and female duet, acoustic guitar and pedal steel, and a chorus that names the year they met. That is a complete brief, around 180 characters.
Tips that make a difference:
- Be specific in the subject. "A song about love" gets clichés; "a song about waiting all week for a Sunday date" gets a story.
- Put names and details in. Names, places and small objects end up in the lyrics. That is what makes a gift song feel personal.
- Ask for the hook by name. shout-along chorus, singalong chorus, call-and-response.
- Choose the voice deliberately. A duet, a choir or a crew answering changes the whole feel.
- Use Own Lyrics if the words must be yours. The Own Lyrics tab sings your lyrics as written (up to 5,000 characters), with a style box (up to 1,000) and a title (up to 80). The lyrics to song page is set up for that.
- Let AI draft the words, then edit. + Lyrics writes a tagged lyric sheet from your idea for 1 credit and moves it into Own Lyrics, where you can fix any line before a single credit goes on audio.
- Try a reference. Up to 5 photos under Image and the song picks up their mood; one Audio track (6 seconds to 30 minutes) lends its feel. Same 10 credits.

One untested prompt of our own, for a gift song: A warm acoustic pop song for my best friend Maya's thirtieth birthday about road trips, bad karaoke and ten years of friendship, bright female vocal, strummed guitar, handclaps and a singalong chorus with her name in it.
For more personal songs (a lullaby, a song for the dog, a team chant) the song maker has six presets built around occasions rather than genres. The AI birthday music generator and text to song pages cover gifts and messages.
Common mistakes when you make a song
- A vague subject. "A happy song" gives you generic lyrics. Say who, where and what happened.
- No voice in the prompt. You get whatever the model picks. Name the singer.
- Too many genres. pop, rock, jazz, EDM averages into nothing. One genre, plus one flavour at most.
- Pasting finished lyrics into the Prompt box. The AI writes a song about them. Use Own Lyrics.
- Instrumental Only left on. If a song comes back without a voice, check the switch; some vibes turn it on.
- Judging from one version. Two per run exist so you can compare. If both miss the same way, change the prompt; if only one does, keep the other.
Choosing a model
The model picker sits at the top right of the form. Free accounts generate on v6 Mini ("Fast drafts, high volume"), which is the right place to try ideas. v6 ("Most powerful, for any song") and v6 Wild ("Best for experimental ideas") need a paid plan. v6 is the one for clear vocals and polished production, and the six examples were made on it; v6 Wild takes more risks with arrangement.
Every model costs 10 credits for two songs. The stepper counts songs in steps of 2, up to 10. See plans and credit packs.
After the song is made
- Make it longer. Many songs come back at two to three minutes. Extend Song continues from any point; see how to extend a song.
- Fix one part. Replace Section rewrites a chosen stretch, with new lyrics if you like.
- Try it in another style. Cover Song keeps the melody and words and changes the genre.
- Karaoke or practice. The vocal remover splits the song into two stems, vocals and instrumental.
- Share it as a video. The music video generator turns it into one.
- Keep it private. Turning Public off is a paid-plan option.
- Download it. Downloads come with a plan; see pricing.
FAQ
How do I make a song if I cannot sing or play an instrument?
Describe it. On the AI song maker you write one sentence (subject, mood, genre, voice, instruments) and the AI writes the lyrics, composes the music and sings it.
Can I make a song with my own lyrics?
Yes. Switch to the Own Lyrics tab, paste your words with [Verse] and [Chorus] tags, and describe the sound in the style box. Your lyrics are sung as written.
How long does it take to make a song?
About a minute per run. Each run returns two complete songs.
Is it free?
New accounts get 16 free credits with no card. A run costs 10 credits and returns two songs on v6 Mini, the free model.
Can I use the song commercially, on YouTube or Spotify?
Commercial use, including monetised YouTube and Spotify releases, is covered only on the Standard plan and above, 2,500+ credit packs, and Team plans. Songs made with free credits, the Starter plan or the Mini credit pack are for personal use only. See pricing.
Will my song be the same as the example I tapped?
No. The tile gives you its prompt, and every run is a new draw: two new songs in that style, with lyrics the AI writes fresh.
What is the difference between the AI song maker and the song maker?
Same generator, different presets. The AI song maker's vibes are genres (pop punk, Motown, Latin pop, Broadway, reggae, gospel); the song maker is built around occasions like lullabies, road trips and team chants.
Final take
Knowing how to make a song used to mean years of lessons. Now it means knowing what you want to say and how it should sound: a specific subject, one mood, a genre, a voice and a hook. Tap a vibe on the AI song maker to hear what a good one-sentence prompt produces, write your own in the same shape, and keep the better of the two songs that come back.
