TL;DR
ElevenLabs Music (Eleven Music) is still the tool we would pick for ads and brand work: trained on licensed data, with commercial use spelled out in its terms. People look elsewhere for three reasons: songs cost more per track than on the song-first tools, because music draws on the same credit pool as your voice work; vocals that several 2026 comparisons rate behind Suno's; and film, TV, radio and studio-game use needs an Enterprise plan. If you need full vocal songs you can keep editing, Suno AI Music is the closest fit: 16 free credits when you sign up, two songs per 10-credit run, and extend, cover, replace-section and vocal-split tools on every track. For other jobs, one of the other seven will suit you better. The table shows which.

Where Eleven Music stands in September 2026
Eleven Music is no longer one product. It comes in three forms, and which one you use changes the price:
- The model. Eleven Music launched in August 2025 on licensing deals with Merlin and Kobalt. Music v2 arrived on May 27, 2026, adding section-by-section composition and the ability to regenerate one part of a song without touching the rest. Music v2.5, released September 11, 2026, is the current default, and ElevenLabs says it was preferred in the majority of nearly 48,000 blind comparison pairs. Tracks run from 3 seconds to 5 minutes, in MP3 or WAV, in many languages.
- ElevenMusic, the consumer app (web and iOS, launched April 1, 2026): a free tier with a daily song limit and Pro at $9.99 a month ($95.90 a year) for up to 500 tracks. Since v2.5, downloads are lossless on every plan: five a day on Free, 400 a month on Pro. Downloads are blocked on tracks that reference other artists' songs. It includes Composer, a section-by-section editor, and Muse, a conversational co-writer.
- ElevenCreative and the API, the main ElevenLabs subscription: Starter $6 a month (30,000 credits), Creator $22 (121,000), Pro $99 (600,000). Its pricing page puts music at about 900 credits per minute.
Commercial terms (Eleven Music model-specific terms, updated May 26, 2026): online and offline commercial use is allowed on every self-serve plan, including Free with attribution to Eleven Music, except film, TV, radio and studio games, which need the Enterprise Music plan. Releasing to streaming services requires Creator or above. Reselling tracks and building music libraries are not allowed on self-serve plans.
Why people look for an alternative
- Price per song on the credit plans. At about 900 credits a minute, a three-minute song uses around 2,700 credits. Starter's 30,000 credits therefore cover roughly eleven songs a month, and fewer if you also use those credits for voiceovers. A song-first tool gives you hundreds of songs for a similar price.
- Vocals. Reviewers generally rate Eleven Music strong on instrumentals and style-specific beds and behind Suno on sung pop vocals. v2.5 targets exactly this, so test it yourself, but this is the most common complaint.
- Rights ceilings. If the track is going into a film, a TV spot or a radio ad, no self-serve plan covers it.
- Workflow. v2 added section editing, which closes much of the gap. What it still lacks is a library workbench with cover-into-another-genre, vocal split and music video in one place.

The eight alternatives
1. Suno AI Music — full vocal songs you keep editing
If you came to Eleven Music for songs and left because of the vocals or the per-song cost, this is the like-for-like move. Suno AI Music runs Suno v6, v6 Wild and v6 Mini on its paid plans. Every generation costs 10 credits and returns two complete songs, and a new account starts with 16 credits, enough to try it. Starter is $9.99 a month for 800 credits (80 runs, 160 songs), Standard $29.99 for 3,000 and Premium $99.99 for 12,000. One-time packs start at $9.99 for 600 credits that never expire.
Every song in the library can be extended, covered into another style, have one section replaced with new lyrics, be split into vocal and instrumental or rendered as an MP4 music video. MP3 downloads come with any plan or credit pack; WAV export and a commercial licence come with Standard and above.

Where Eleven Music beats us: paperwork for brand work. If the client's legal team wants licensed training data and written model terms, stay with ElevenLabs.
2. Suno (official) — the vocal-quality reference
Suno's own app is the benchmark for sung vocals. On September 9, 2026 it moved to a new model family trained on licensed music from its label partners. Pro is $10 a month for 2,500 credits and Premier $30 for 10,000 plus Suno Studio, its browser DAW. The limit is downloads: since September 3, 2026 the free plan gets seven downloads ever, Pro 20 a month and Premier 60, with no cap when exporting from Studio. The Suno v6 write-up has the details.
3. Mureka — stems, MIDI and your own voice
Mureka generates full vocal songs in several languages. The free plan gives 4 songs a day with no downloads. Pro is $10 a month ($8 billed yearly) for 500 songs with MP3 and commercial rights. Premier at $30 ($24 yearly) adds 2,000 songs, WAV, stems and MIDI, Mureka Studio and voice cloning. For producers who want to take the parts into a DAW, it has the most export options at that price.
4. Google Gemini with Lyria 3.5 — free, fast, no workbench
Since September 4, 2026, Lyria 3.5 has been available to everyone in the Gemini app: tracks up to about three minutes with verses and choruses, your own lyrics, a vocals or instrumental switch, and a genre menu. It is free with a Google account. Developers pay $0.08 a song through the Gemini API. Every track carries a SynthID watermark, and the app is a chat, so there is no song library, extend or cover. Use it to hear an idea quickly.
5. Stable Audio 3 — open weights, instrumental only
Stability AI shipped Stable Audio 3.0 on May 20, 2026: four models trained on licensed data, three of them open-weight (Small, Small SFX and Medium, the last up to 6:20). Under the Community License you own your outputs; organisations over $1M in revenue need the Enterprise licence. It makes instrumentals and sound effects, not sung lyrics. Pick it to run generation on your own hardware or inside your own software without per-minute credits.
6. Soundraw — video beds without a credit meter
For the instrumental beds that many people use Eleven Music for, Soundraw fits well. Its model is trained on in-house music, and it lets you shape length, sections and intensity to the edit. Creator is $16.99 a month ($11.04 billed yearly) with unlimited MP3 downloads and commercial use. WAV and stems start at Artist Pro ($35.99). It has no vocals, by design.
7. AIVA — when you need the copyright, not a licence
Eleven Music gives you a licence; AIVA's Pro plan (€33 a month billed yearly) gives you the copyright, with full monetisation, 300 downloads a month and WAV and MIDI export. Standard (€11 a month yearly) keeps the copyright with AIVA and limits monetisation to YouTube, Twitch, TikTok and Instagram. It writes orchestral, cinematic and ambient instrumentals and includes an editor for the composition itself. It is the natural fit for scores, including film work, which Eleven Music's self-serve plans exclude.
8. Udio — good sound you cannot take out
Udio still makes excellent-sounding songs, but downloads have been disabled since October 29, 2025, after its label settlements. Plans are Free (100 credits), Standard $10 and Pro $30, for music you can only play inside the app. Not a working alternative for anything you plan to publish. See the Udio alternatives guide.
Which one for which job
- A paid ad or brand spot: stay on ElevenLabs Music. For a sung jingle, Suno AI Music on the Standard plan.
- Film, TV, radio or a studio game: ElevenLabs Enterprise Music, or AIVA Pro if an instrumental score will do and you want the copyright.
- Full vocal songs in volume, edited afterwards: Suno AI Music, with replace section and extend.
- The best raw vocal take, a few downloads a month: Suno's own app.
- Stems and MIDI for a DAW: Mureka Premier.
- Free, right now: Gemini with Lyria 3.5.
- On your own hardware: Stable Audio 3.
- Unlimited instrumental beds for video: Soundraw.

FAQ
Is ElevenLabs Music free?
There is a free tier in both the ElevenMusic app (five lossless downloads a day) and the main ElevenLabs plan. Under the model terms updated May 26, 2026, free-plan tracks may be used commercially only with attribution to Eleven Music, and not for film, TV, radio, studio games or streaming releases.
Can I use Eleven Music in a TV ad or film?
Not on a self-serve plan. Film, TV, radio and studio games are reserved for the Enterprise Music plan. Online ads, social video and podcasts are covered from the free tier (with attribution) upward.
How many songs do ElevenLabs credits buy?
At about 900 credits per minute, a three-minute song is roughly 2,700 credits: about eleven songs on Starter ($6, 30,000 credits) or forty-odd on Creator ($22, 121,000), less whatever you spend on voice. The ElevenMusic app's Pro plan ($9.99) counts in tracks instead: up to 500 a month.
What is the best ElevenLabs Music alternative for vocals?
Suno's models. Use the official app for the best single take, or Suno AI Music for volume and editing tools.
Which alternative is safest for commercial use?
For brand work, ElevenLabs itself remains the benchmark. Among alternatives: AIVA Pro transfers the copyright, Stable Audio 3's Community License gives you ownership of outputs, Soundraw includes commercial use on every paid plan, and Suno AI Music includes a commercial licence from the Standard plan.
Can I release Eleven Music tracks on Spotify?
Only from the Creator plan up; Free and Starter exclude streaming. Read can you upload AI music to Spotify before distributing anything.
Final take
ElevenLabs Music is the right tool when legal clearance matters most. It is the wrong one when you need lots of sung songs cheaply, a film or TV licence without an Enterprise contract, or a workbench for reworking a song several times. For that last job — full vocal songs you extend, recast in another genre or fix one verse at a time — try Suno AI Music. Your first run is free.
