Best Google Flow Music Alternatives in 2026: 8 AI Song Generators Compared

Google Flow Music — the old Riffusion, now running on Lyria 3.5 — is free to try but runs on daily credits, a Google account and Google's terms. Here are eight Google Flow Music alternatives compared on vocals, downloads, licence, editing tools and price, with a plain note on what each one is best at.

TL;DR

Google Flow Music is what Riffusion became: Google bought the company in February 2026, renamed the app in April, and moved it to its Lyria 3.5 model in July. It is a capable song generator with a chat-style producer, section remixing and a generous free plan. People look for Google Flow Music alternatives for four reasons: the free plan runs on daily credits and two generations at a time, everything lives inside a Google account under Google's terms, every track carries Google's SynthID watermark, and Lyria's vocal character is not for everyone. The closest like-for-like — full songs with vocals, kept in a library where you can extend, restyle and fix one section at a time — is Suno AI Music: 16 free credits at sign-up, two songs for every 10-credit run, and credit packs that never expire. The rest of the list is better for specific jobs, and the table says which.

What Google Flow Music is in 2026

A short history, because it explains a lot of the search traffic:

  • 2022–2025: Riffusion, then Producer.ai. An open-source spectrogram experiment turned into a consumer song app, relaunched in July 2025 as Producer.ai around a chat-driven "producer" agent.
  • February 24, 2026: Google acquires it. The team joined Google Labs. Users were told that from February 20 the service would run on new models and that past generations would no longer be accessible.
  • April 2026: renamed Google Flow Music, sitting next to Google's Flow tools for video and images, with remix tools to replace and extend sections.
  • July 29, 2026: Lyria 3.5. Google's newest music model debuted inside Flow Music before reaching the Gemini app on September 4. Our Lyria 3.5 write-up covers what the model does.

Plans as of October 2026: Free with daily top-up credits and two generations at a time, Starter at $8 a month (3,000 credits, about 600 songs), Plus at $24 and Member at $64, each about 25% cheaper billed yearly. Downloads come as MP3, WAV or M4A, and Flow Music is also bundled with Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscriptions. If you arrived here looking for the old Riffusion, our Riffusion alternatives guide tells that side of the story.

Why people look for a Flow Music alternative

Flow Music is good. The reasons people shop around are practical rather than about quality:

  1. Daily credits instead of a balance. The free plan tops up every day, which is great for dabbling and awkward when you want to spend an evening on one song. Credits you do not use do not build up.
  2. A Google account, Google's terms. Your songs, prompts and chats sit in your Google account. Google says it does not claim ownership of what you make, but the commercial-use terms are Google's, they differ by tier and bundle, and they are worth reading before anything goes into a paid project.
  3. SynthID on every track. Lyria output carries an inaudible watermark that identifies it as AI-generated. That is a feature for some people and a reason to look elsewhere for others.
  4. The sound. Lyria and Suno have different vocal characters. If you prefer Suno's, no amount of prompting in Flow Music will turn one into the other.
  5. Lost Riffusion songs. Anyone whose Producer.ai library disappeared in February has a reason not to rebuild it in the same place.

The right Google Flow Music alternative depends on which of those is your reason.

The eight alternatives

1. Suno AI Music — songs you keep finishing

We are one of the tools on this list, so here is what we do and what we do not. Suno AI Music generates full songs with vocals and keeps each one in a library with the finishing tools next to it. You can extend a track that ends too soon, cover it into another style, replace one section with new lyrics, split vocals from the instrumental, or render an MP4 music video. Suno v6 Mini runs on the free tier, and v6 and v6 Wild on the paid plans. Each generation costs 10 credits and returns two songs.

Where Flow Music gives you a daily allowance, we sell a balance. Plans are Starter $9.99 (800 credits a month), Standard $29.99 (3,000) and Premium $99.99 (12,000). One-time credit packs run from 2,500 credits for $29.99 up to 20,000 for $199, with a smaller first-purchase pack for new customers, and pack credits never expire — so a quiet month costs you nothing. MP3 downloads come with any plan or credit pack; WAV export and a commercial licence with a downloadable certificate come with Standard and above.

Suno AI Music pricing: Starter, Standard and Premium with Suno v6, v6 Wild and v6 Mini, the creation and audio tools per plan — WAV export and the commercial licence start at Standard

Where we lose: no chat-driven producer agent like Flow Music, no image-to-music, and no full DAW.

2. Suno (official) — the quality reference

Suno's own app is still what most people compare everything else to for songs with vocals. On September 9, 2026 it replaced its earlier models with the v6 family, trained on licensed music from partners including Warner Music and BMG. Pro is $10 a month (2,500 credits) and Premier $30 (10,000 credits, plus Suno Studio, its browser DAW). The catch is downloads: since September 3, 2026 the free plan gets seven downloads in total, Pro 20 a month and Premier 60. If you release a lot, count those first. The Suno v6 write-up has the details.

3. Gemini app — the same model, without the studio

If what you like about Flow Music is simply the Lyria sound, you can get Lyria 3.5 for free in the Gemini app on web and mobile: describe a song, paste your own lyrics, or turn a photo into a track. What you give up is the studio around it — there is no song library, no section remixing and no stems. It is the quickest way to hear Lyria, and the least convenient way to finish a record with it.

4. Udio — great sound, but nothing leaves the app

Udio still makes excellent-sounding songs, but downloads of audio, video and stems have been disabled since October 29, 2025, after its settlement with Universal, and remain off while it builds a licensed platform. Plans (Free with 100 credits, Standard $10, Pro $30) buy music you can only play inside Udio. If you need to export, it is not an alternative yet; our Udio alternatives guide explains why.

5. Mureka — stems, MIDI and your own voice

Mureka is a full-song generator with a producer's toolkit on its top tier. The free plan gives four songs a day with no downloads. Pro is $10 a month for 500 songs, MP3 downloads and commercial rights; Premier is $30 a month for 2,000 songs, WAV, stems and MIDI, Mureka Studio and voice cloning. If you used Flow Music's stems to finish tracks in a DAW, Premier covers the same ground with a different sound.

6. ElevenLabs Music — the clearest licence

ElevenLabs Music makes vocal or instrumental tracks in many languages from a model trained on licensed data. Commercial use starts at the $6-a-month Starter plan; music draws about 900 credits per minute from the shared pool, so Starter covers roughly half an hour. Film, TV, radio and studio games need Enterprise. Pick it when the question is "can this go under a paid ad" rather than "can I keep reworking this song".

7. Stable Audio 3 — open weights, no vocals

Stability AI released Stable Audio 3.0 on May 20, 2026 as four models. Three (Small SFX, Small and Medium) have open weights and run on your own machine, and Medium generates up to 6 minutes 20 seconds; Large is API-only. It was trained on licensed and Creative Commons audio, and the Community License allows free commercial use below $1 million in annual revenue. It makes instrumentals and sound design only — no singing.

8. ACE-Step 1.5 — open-source songs with vocals

ACE-Step 1.5 is the open-source option for full songs with vocals: MIT-licensed and usable commercially. Beyond text-to-music it does covers, repainting part of a track, stem extraction and completion. The larger XL variants (April 2026) want about 12 GB of VRAM; the standard model runs on modest consumer GPUs, and there is a public demo on Hugging Face. Less polished than Flow Music, but nothing about it depends on someone else's account.

Which one for which job

  • Songs with vocals that I keep reworking: Suno AI Music. Replace section fixes a weak verse; extend fixes an ending that comes too soon.
  • I want to spend credits when I have time, not every day: a one-time credit pack on Suno AI Music — pack credits never expire.
  • The best raw song quality, and I only release a few a month: Suno's own app.
  • I only want the Lyria sound: the Gemini app, free.
  • Stems and MIDI to finish in a DAW: Mureka Premier.
  • Music for a paid ad: ElevenLabs Music.
  • Running a model on my own machine: ACE-Step 1.5 for vocals, Stable Audio 3 for instrumentals.

Whichever you choose, prompting skills carry over: our Suno prompts guide works for every vocal generator on this list.

FAQ

Is Google Flow Music free?

Yes, there is a free plan with daily top-up credits and two generations at a time. Paid plans start at $8 a month for Starter, and Flow Music is included with Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscriptions.

Is Google Flow Music the same as Riffusion?

It is the same product and team under a new owner and name. Riffusion became Producer.ai in July 2025, Google acquired it in February 2026, and it was renamed Google Flow Music in April 2026. It now runs on Google's Lyria models, and generations from before February 20, 2026 are no longer available in the service.

What is the best Google Flow Music alternative for songs with vocals?

For raw quality, Suno's own app, as long as its download caps suit you. For generating and then editing songs in one place — extend, cover, replace a section, split stems — Suno AI Music. The 16 credits you get at sign-up cover a first generation that returns two songs.

Can I use Google Flow Music songs commercially?

Google says it does not claim ownership of what you generate, but commercial use is governed by Google's terms for your plan or bundle, and every track carries a SynthID watermark. Read those terms before using a song in a paid project. On Suno AI Music, commercial use comes with the Standard plan and above, with a certificate you can download.

Do Google Flow Music tracks have a watermark?

Yes. Every Lyria track carries Google's SynthID, an inaudible watermark that identifies the audio as AI-generated. You will not hear it, but detection tools can.

Is there a free Google Flow Music alternative?

Several. The Gemini app runs the same Lyria 3.5 model for free; Suno AI Music gives 16 credits at sign-up and runs Suno v6 Mini on the free tier; Mureka allows four songs a day without downloads; and ACE-Step 1.5 and Stable Audio 3 are free to run on your own hardware.

Final take

Google Flow Music is a strong product with a free door, and for many people it is enough. Look for a Google Flow Music alternative when the friction is the daily allowance, the Google account, the watermark or the sound itself. Want the Lyria sound without the studio? Gemini. Want a model on your own machine? ACE-Step or Stable Audio 3. Want full songs with vocals that you extend, restyle and fix one section at a time, paid for with credits that wait for you? Start on Suno AI Music — the sign-up credits cover your first two songs.
