TL;DR
Pop music is a story, a hook you can sing after one listen, and a production that gets out of the hook's way. On the AI pop generator you describe those three things in one sentence and get a finished song with lyrics and a real-sounding vocal. The form opens with a bubblegum pop prompt about a first crush at the roller rink, and six "Start from a vibe" tiles (bubblegum, ballad, indie, acoustic, electropop, pop rock) each play a sung example. One run costs 10 credits, takes about a minute and returns two songs; new accounts get 16 free credits.

What makes pop music sound like pop
Pop borrows from every genre, so it is less about a sound than about a set of priorities. These are the parts that matter, each with the words that bring it out in a prompt:
- A specific story. The best pop songs are about one small, concrete moment: a first crush at a roller rink, letters never sent, a summer in thrift stores. A song about… followed by a scene gives the lyrics something real to say.
- The hook. A short, repeated phrase in the chorus that you can sing back. Ask for it: a big sweet hook, a singalong chorus, a catchy vocal chop hook, a shout-along chorus.
- Structure. Verse, pre-chorus, chorus, repeat, then a bridge. The generator builds this by itself; you shape it with quiet verses building to a powerful soaring chorus.
- The voice. Name the singer: bright bouncy female vocal, heartfelt male vocal, cool confident female vocal. Voice words change the whole character of the song.
- Tempo and energy. Ballads sit around 60–80 BPM, most upbeat pop between 100 and 130. You can write the number, or let the sub-style set it.
- A sub-style. Bubblegum, ballad, indie, acoustic, electropop, pop rock. Each one brings its own instruments: handclaps and sparkly synths, piano and strings, jangly guitars, synth bass.
Step by step with the AI pop generator
-
Open the AI pop generator. It opens on the Prompt tab with v6 Mini, the free tier, in the model picker.
-
Read the preset. The Prompt box holds A sugary bubblegum pop song about a first crush at the roller rink, bright bouncy female vocal, handclaps, sparkly synths, a playful chant in the chorus and a big sweet hook. Instrumental Only is off, because pop is about the vocal. Below are the Inspiration chips, Number of Songs to Generate at 2, the Public switch and the vibe tiles.

- Tap a vibe to hear it. One tap plays the example and copies its prompt into the box, and sets Instrumental Only to match. Tapping Bubblegum pop starts Bubblegum Heart: Sugary Bubblegum Pop (3:02) in the player bar, and the tile switches to a pause icon.

- Compare the six examples. The examples section lists all six songs with their lengths and tags, from Bubblegum Heart at 3:02 to Coffee Shop Rain at 4:04.

- Read the lyrics on the song page. Each example has its own page, like the bubblegum example, with the cover, a play button, Share, the tags and the lyrics by section. The chorus opens: "Round and round, there you go / My cheeks are pink and my heart says hello." The lyrics shown were checked word for word against the vocal.

- Change the story and press Generate Music for Free. Keep the sub-style and swap the story for your own. A run takes about a minute and returns two new songs with new lyrics. They will not be the example song.
Writing a pop prompt
The Prompt box takes up to 500 characters. All six example prompts are one sentence of roughly 170–210 characters with the same order:
sub-style + "song about" + one concrete story, the vocal, two or three instruments, and the hook or chorus.
What works:
- Make the story small and specific. A song about love gives you clichés. Meeting someone while sheltering from the rain in a coffee shop gives you lines about rain, cups and windows.
- Always describe the singer. Gender, tone and energy: gentle male vocal, dreamy female vocal.
- Ask for the hook explicitly. Pop lives or dies on it: a carefree whistled hook, a playful chant in the chorus.
- Describe the build for ballads: quiet verses building to a powerful soaring chorus.
- Change the story, keep the sound. Tap the vibe you like, then replace only the "about…" part. The sound stays proven and the song becomes yours.
If you would rather write the words yourself, switch to the Own Lyrics tab next to Prompt. It takes lyrics up to 5,000 characters, a style description up to 1,000 characters and a title up to 80. Paste the pop sub-style and vocal part of an example prompt into the style box. Our guide on how to turn lyrics into a song covers that route, and the AI lyrics generator can draft the words first.
Six pop prompts from the page
These are the six vibes on the AI pop generator, prompts copied exactly. Each example was made on v6 from exactly that prompt, and Suno wrote and sang the lyrics. All six have vocals.
| Vibe | What it is | Prompt |
|---|---|---|
| Bubblegum pop | Sugary, bouncy, handclaps, example Bubblegum Heart (3:02) | A sugary bubblegum pop song about a first crush at the roller rink, bright bouncy female vocal, handclaps, sparkly synths, a playful chant in the chorus and a big sweet hook |
| Pop ballad | Piano and strings, big chorus, example Letters I Never Sent (3:53) | An emotional pop ballad about letters written to a lost friend but never sent, heartfelt male vocal, piano and strings, quiet verses building to a powerful soaring chorus |
| Indie pop | Jangly and breezy, example Thrift Store Summer (3:21) | A breezy indie pop song about spending a summer in thrift stores and record shops with a best friend, dreamy female vocal, jangly guitars, warm bass and a carefree whistled hook |
| Acoustic pop | Strummed guitar singalong, example Coffee Shop Rain (4:04) | A warm acoustic pop song about meeting someone while sheltering from the rain in a coffee shop, gentle male vocal, strummed acoustic guitar, soft percussion and a singalong chorus |
| Electropop | Synth bass and vocal chops, example Digital Daydream (3:21) | A glossy electropop song about falling for someone through late-night video calls across time zones, cool confident female vocal, punchy synth bass, crisp electronic drums and a catchy vocal chop hook |
| Pop rock | Guitars and a big chorus, example Open Road Radio (3:23) | An upbeat pop rock anthem about leaving a small town with the radio blasting, energetic male vocal, driving electric guitars, big drums and a shout-along chorus |
Two extra recipes of our own, untested:
- A nostalgic synth-pop song about driving home from a school dance in the 80s, airy female vocal, gated drums, shimmering synths and a big chorus
- A bright summer pop song about a road trip with friends to the coast, playful male and female duet, ukulele, handclaps and a whistled hook
Common pop music mistakes
- A vague story. "A happy love song" produces generic lines. Give it one scene.
- No vocal description. The singer is the lead instrument in pop. Leaving it out makes the result a coin toss.
- Instrumental Only left on. If you come from an instrumental page, check the toggle. The pop page opens with it off.
- Too many instruments. Pop production is clean. Three instruments plus the vocal is plenty.
- Naming a real artist. Describe the sound instead: era, voice, instruments. The generator makes original songs, not copies.
- Keeping the first take. Each run gives two songs with different melodies and lyrics. Choose the one with the stronger chorus.
Choosing a model
The picker in the top-right corner of the form offers three models:
- v6 Mini: free, "Fast drafts, high volume". Good for finding the right story and sub-style.
- v6: "Most powerful, for any song". The six examples were made on v6. For pop, where the vocal carries everything, this is the one to use for a final version.
- v6 Wild: "Best for experimental ideas". Useful when you want pop that bends genre, such as pop with unusual instruments.
v6 and v6 Wild need a paid plan. Every run is 10 credits for two songs, on any model; see plans and credit packs.
After the song is made
- Make it longer. Extend Song adds another verse or an outro from any point.
- Fix one line. Replace Section regenerates a part, such as a weak bridge, and keeps the rest.
- Try another style. Cover Song re-performs the song, for example as an acoustic version of an electropop track.
- Get the instrumental. The vocal remover splits the song into two stems, vocals and instrumental, for karaoke or a remix.
- Make a video. The music video generator turns the song into an MP4.
- Download it. Downloads come with a plan; see pricing.

FAQ
Can I make pop music for free?
Yes, to start. New accounts get 16 free credits with no card, and one run costs 10 credits for two songs on v6 Mini.
Does the AI write the lyrics too?
Yes. On the Prompt tab you describe the song and the model writes and sings the lyrics. To use your own words, switch to the Own Lyrics tab.
Can I choose a male or female voice?
Describe it in the prompt: heartfelt male vocal, bright bouncy female vocal, or a duet. The model follows voice descriptions closely but not perfectly, so check both songs from a run.
Can I release the song on Spotify or use it on YouTube?
Commercial use is included only on Standard plan and above, 2,500+ credit packs, and Team plans. Free credits, the Starter plan and Mini credit packs are personal use only. Our article on uploading AI music to Spotify covers the distribution side.
Why does my song sound different from the example?
The vibe copies the prompt, but every run writes a new song with new lyrics and a new melody in that style.
How long is a pop song from the generator?
The six examples run from 3:02 to 4:04, a normal radio length. Extend Song can add more.
Can I base a song on a photo?
Yes. The Image chip takes up to 5 photos, and the song picks up their mood. It costs the same 10 credits.
Final take
How to make pop music with AI comes down to one sentence: a sub-style, a small true-feeling story, a described singer, a few instruments and a hook. The AI pop generator gives you six sentences that already work, each with a song you can hear first. Tap the closest one, rewrite the story as your own, and generate. Two songs per run means you can always pick the stronger chorus.
