Why people look for a Mureka alternative
Mureka is built by Kunlun Tech and its Singapore arm Skywork AI. As of September 2026, its own subscription page lists three plans:
- Free: 4 songs a day on the basic V7.5 model. Mureka's FAQ says plainly that "downloading is a subscription-only feature", and free songs carry no commercial rights.
- Pro: $10 a month, or $8 a month billed yearly. You get 500 songs a month, the advanced models (V9.5, V9, V8, O2, V7.6), MP3 downloads and commercial rights.
- Premier: $30 a month, or $24 billed yearly. You get 2,000 songs a month, WAV and MP3, stems and MIDI, splitting into up to 12 stems, Mureka Studio, remix, and "any voice as your AI singer".
Prices are the published figures at the time of writing. From those terms and the public record, the reasons people leave come down to four things:
- You cannot test the export before you pay. On the free plan you can listen but you cannot download, so you can't take a free song into your editor or DAW to judge it.
- The features producers want are on the top tier. WAV, stems, MIDI and the Studio editor all need Premier. On Pro, the export is MP3.
- Gold expires. Subscription Gold expires one month after it is issued, the free daily Gold expires at the end of each day, and only subscribers can buy top-up packs.
- Legal overhang. On December 19, 2025, Illinois musicians filed a proposed class action against Kunlun Tech and Skywork AI. It alleges copyright infringement, DMCA violations and breaches of Illinois's biometric privacy law over voiceprints. It specifically targets the feature that lets users upload songs as reference tracks. The case is unresolved. That doesn't make Mureka output unusable, but if a client asks where your music came from, it is one more thing to explain.
On sound, independent reviewers generally rank Mureka as good but not the leader. One three-month review found its vocals "slightly artificial" next to Suno's. V9.5 was aimed at exactly that, so judge the current model with your own ears.

The seven alternatives

2. Suno (official) — the reference model, with download caps
Suno's own app is, by most 2026 comparisons, still the quality benchmark, and Premier subscribers get Studio 2.0, Suno's browser-based production suite with stems and MIDI. The change to know about is the downloads policy that took effect on September 3, 2026. Free accounts get 7 downloads in total, Pro gets 20 a month and Premier gets 60 a month, with no limit on downloads from Suno Studio. The caps also apply to songs made before that date. 3. ElevenLabs Music — commercial rights from the cheapest plan
ElevenLabs Music makes full songs with vocals. Music generation is available on the free tier, and commercial music use starts on the $6-a-month Starter plan, the lowest price on this list for cleared commercial use. The multilingual vocals are a real strength. What it lacks is a workbench: you get a track, not a library of tools to keep working on it.
4. Google Gemini with Lyria 3.5 — free and already on your phone
Since September 4, 2026, Lyria 3.5 has been available to every Gemini user, on the web and in the app. It makes full songs with verses and choruses, vocal or instrumental, and you can write your own lyrics or even start from an image. It costs nothing and it sounds good. The trade-offs: every track carries Google's SynthID watermark, and a chat window has no song library or editing tools. It is the fastest way to hear an idea. 5. Stable Audio 3 — open weights, run it yourself
Stability AI announced Stable Audio 3.0 on May 20, 2026. It is a family of four models trained on licensed data (AudioSparx and Creative Commons recordings from Freesound). Three of them, Small SFX, Small and Medium, have open weights that you can run on your own hardware, and Medium makes tracks longer than six minutes. Large is API-only. It is built for instrumentals and sound design, not vocals. Choose it if you want generation inside your own software or offline, not if you need a singer.
6. Soundraw — background instrumentals, cleanly licensed
Soundraw generates instrumentals from a model trained only on music it produced in-house. Its Creator plan costs $16.99 a month, or $11.04 billed yearly, and includes unlimited MP3 downloads for royalty-free use in videos, podcasts, apps and games. The Artist plans ($29.99 to $50 a month) add distribution rights, and the higher Artist tiers add WAV and stems. There are no vocals. If you used Mureka only for background music, this is the simpler tool.
7. AIVA — compositions you own outright
AIVA is for scores: orchestral, cinematic and ambient pieces, with an editor for the composition itself. On the free plan you get 3 downloads a month, and AIVA owns the copyright. Standard (€11 a month, billed yearly) allows monetisation on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok and Instagram only. Pro (€33 a month, billed yearly) gives you 300 downloads a month, WAV, and the copyright is yours. It is instrumental-first and the right choice if you need to own the composition.
