What the free plan includes
A free Suno account in September 2026 includes:
- 50 credits a day. They refill every day and do not roll over. Unused credits are gone at the reset, so saving up doesn't work. Over a month that comes to roughly 1,500 credits, which is more than many paid tools give you.
- About 10 songs a day. That is Suno's own estimate for 50 credits.
- v6-mini. On September 9, 2026 Suno replaced all of its earlier models with a new family trained on licensed music from Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe. The family has three models: v6, v6-wild and v6-mini. Free accounts generate on v6-mini, which Suno calls the faster, more efficient version that is available to everyone. v6 and v6-wild are for paying subscribers.
- The v6 editing features. The launch added section editing, lyric edits in plain language, mashups, sampling and multimodal prompting. Launch coverage lists them for all three models, v6-mini included.
- A permanent library. Everything you make stays playable and shareable on Suno, on every plan including free. The download limits only cover taking files off the platform.

What the free plan does not include
Commercial rights. Suno's terms limit free-tier output to personal, non-commercial use. Suno's help centre says that subscribing later does not give you commercial rights to songs made on the free plan by default. The rights follow the plan you were on when you made the song, not your account. So a song you want to monetise has to be made while you are paying. Downloads, beyond seven. Suno's new download limits took effect on September 3, 2026: 7 downloads ever on Free, 20 a month on Pro and 60 a month on Premier. Downloads inside Suno Studio have no limit. The limits cover every song on Suno, including ones made before that date. On Free the seven are a one-time allowance that never resets, and they are for personal use. Downloading a song you have already downloaded, in any format, does not count again.
The full v6 models. v6 (precise and steerable) and v6-wild (looser, for ideas) need Pro or Premier. The launch promotion made v6 and v6-wild generations cost zero credits for 48 hours from September 10, but that was for paid plans only. Free accounts stayed on v6-mini.
Studio. Suno's browser workstation, where downloads are unlimited, comes with Premier.

The table shows where the real cost sits. On Pro, credits are not the limit. 2,500 credits is far more generation than 20 downloads a month can ship. What you are paying for is the right to release and a monthly download quota. If you release a few songs a month, Pro covers it. If you need more than 60 finished files a month, the plan decision is about Studio, not credits.
Legit ways to get more out of free
None of these involve second accounts or anything else against Suno's terms. They are simply ways to spend the allowance well.
- Use the daily credits every day. The allowance does not roll over, so a few generations each day beat saving for a big session that you can't have. Sketch on weekdays and choose at the weekend.
- Write the lyrics before you generate. Most wasted credits go on prompts that were not ready. Get the words and structure right first with the prompts guide and the structure tags, then generate.
- Treat the seven downloads as final picks. Listen in the app, share the Suno link with friends or collaborators, and download only the version you will keep. A re-download of the same song does not count, so you never need to download twice to get another format.
- Share links instead of files. Every song stays playable and shareable on Suno on the free plan. If your audience is friends, a link does the job.
- Use other free tiers for second opinions. Google's Gemini app has had Lyria 3.5 free for everyone since September 4, 2026.
